  1. Do I need to pay the entire booking price up front?

    No. For the majority of our locations Airport Car Hire only require a small booking deposit, you pay the remainder upon arrival at the desk of the relevant supplier . Please read your rental voucher for further details.

     


     


     


  2. I can't open my VOUCHER

    If you cannot open your voucher, please copy the voucher link provided in the email into the address bar of your browser and press enter.

     


     


     


  3. When do I pay for additional extras?

    Please note that all addtional extras (including child seats, additional drivers, special equipment etc) are all paid for at the local rental office on collection of the vehicle.

     


     


     


  4. Is it possible to reserve a specific make/model of vehicle?

    Airport Car Hire will make every effort to supply the reserved model of vehicle. However, it is impossible for us to guarantee that a specific make and model will be provided. If the make/model of vehicle that you booked is not available then the rental agent will supply a suitable alternative from the same vehicle group classification or from a larger group.

     


     


     


  5. What age must I be to rent a car?

    Age limits vary greatly. For more information please consult the Rental Conditions for the car you select  This will be nest to the  car type when you receive a quote

     


     


     


  6. What documentation do I need on collection of car?

    On collection of your vehicle you need:
    - your rental voucher (which you will have received by email when your reservation was confirmed),
    - A full valid driver's licence held for a minimum of 2 years and
    - a major credit card in the driver's name.
    An International driving licence/permit is only acceptable as supplementary ID when supplied with a licence from your country of permanent residence.

    Please note: Airport Car Hire Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.
    Airport Car Hire can not be held responsible for rentals rejected if you do not present your voucher at rental desk. You must retain all your rental documents if you have a query regarding your reservation.

     


     


     


  7. Where is my voucher?

    Vouchers are sent to the email address provided online at the time of reservation. The usual delivery time is 2 business days. If you have made a reservation and do not have your rental voucher, please check all spam/bulk folders of your email. If you still can not locate your voucher, please contact us and we will reissue the voucher to you.
     

     


     


     


  8. Where will I find the prices for additional extras?

    Prices are displayed in the rental conditons online.

    The rental conditions are accessed via the online quote/booking engine.

  9. When is a booking confirmed?

    A reservation is only confirmed once credit card details have been supplied and you receive a reservation voucher from Airport Car Hire Rentals. This voucher must be produced on collection of your vehicle.

    Please note: Airport Car Hire Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.

     


     


     


  10. Do I need to buy insurance if I have credit card coverage?

    Airport Car Hire Rentals go to great lengths to find and offer competitive rates. As a result, it is not possible to have any part of the inclusive online rental package removed or waived from our rates.

     


     


     


  11. When and how can I reduce my liability on my hire?

    If optional excess waivers are available with the vehicle you wish to hire, please note that such extra insurance is purchased locally on collection of the rental vehicle. It is not possible to request optional extra insurnace in advance.

     


     


     


  12. What is the excess (liability) on my rental?

    When booked online, Collision Damage Waiver Insurance is included in the rental rate. In the event of the car being damaged the driver is responsible for the insurance excess/deductible.

    Excess, deductible: This is the maximum amount you are liable for in the event of the vehicle being damaged or stolen while on hire.

     


     


     


  13. Is there a charge for picking up and returning to a different location in the same country?

    Each rental location supplies its own vehicles. Therefore, in most cases, a drop off charge applies when a car is left in a different location to where it was collected. These charges are shown, either at the top of the Quotation page when you selected your locations or in the Rental Conditions of the relevant Country.
    Please note that any one way fees, where applicable, are not usually included in the online price. If there is a drop fee, it is to be paid locally.

     


     


     


  14. Can I drive to neighbouring countries?

    In most instances, vehicles can be taken outside of the Country of rental. More information can be found in the Rental Conditions for the car you select  This will be nest to the  car type when you receive a quote

     


     


     


  15. What is Airport Car Hire's cancellation policy?

    All cancellations must be made bt  Ticket or faxed to 00 353 1 490 6328 and will only take effect from the date the e-mail or fax is received by Airport Car Hire.


    Cancellation Charges

    More than 24 hours notice
    We will refund all charges except the non-refundable administration fee to the credit /debit card number which was supplied for the booking.

    Less than 24 hours notice
    If you did not follow our cancellation procedure, all monies transacted on the supplied credit/debit card shall be retained.

    No Show
    Should your rental be a no-show (i.e. you did not collect the vehicle and did not follow our cancellation procedure), all monies transacted on the supplied credit/debit card shall be retained.
     

     


     


     


  16. What do I do in the event of an accident?

    Please contact the office from which you hired the vehicle. You will find the contact information on your voucher and/or your rental agreement.
    The renter will be required to inform the rental agent immediately of any accident.
    The renter must take the following measures:

    - Obtain complete details of the persons involved in the accident as well as of any possible witnesses.
    - Immediately provide the rental agent with all the details regarding the accident, which may be of use.
    - Immediately notify the authorities if the third party should be investigated or in the event of injured persons.
    - Do not leave the vehicle without taking correct measures to protect and safeguard it.

    PLEASE NOTE NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE FOR A RESERVATION OR LOST RENTAL TIME IF VEHICLES HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.

     


     


     


  17. How much deposit is required when booking vehicle?

    For the majority of online bookings, 20% of the rental is taken as the confirmation deposit. However, in some cases depending on country or availability the full rental amount is taken. Further information can be found in the Rental Conditions.

     


     


     


  18. I use the Opera web browser and am having problems using the website.

    Users of older versions (version 7 and below) of the Opera browser may encounter problems using the website.

Can cash or a debit card be used as a deposit?

Sorry, none of our rental partners accept cash or debit card for deposits or excess, you must provide a credit card in the name of the lead driver. 64-10084

Can I amend a confirmed booking to change the location or car group?

Unfortunately we cannot amend locations or car groups once it is confirmed. You can, however, re-request the vehicle with the correct data once you cancel your original reservation. Once your original confirmation is received you can cancel the booking free of charge

 Can I book a specific car/vehicle?

We can only guarantee the category and transmission of the vehicle, however we can request specific vehicles with the supplier but this may make longer to confirm if they have it in stock.

Can I pick up/drop my car off anywhere?

One way rentals are possible, they are incorporated in the booking process. If the booking engine doesn't return a rate it unfortunately means that a one way is not possible. Unfortunately we can not presently perform any international one way rentals. Car must be returned to the country it was rented from

Can I use a different credit card when I arrive to the rental location?

Yes you can, as long as the credit card is in the name of the driver of the vehicle. This is for insurance purposes.


Does the cars come with a CD player?

We cannot guarantee a CD player with the rental vehicles, however most rental vehicles come with them as standard now.

Are credit card/administration charges refundable?

The credit card/administration charge if any which CarTrawler charges you is non refundable in all circumstances.

Can cash or a debit card be used as a deposit?

Our website accepts debit and credit cards, but not cash to reserve a vehicle. However none of our rental partners/suppliers accept cash or debit card for deposits or excess, you must provide a credit card in the name of the lead driver. If the vehicle is a fully prepaid booking a credit card will still need to be provided to cover the insurances

Can I amend a confirmed booking to change the location or car group?

 Please click on 'create a new problem ticket' , enter the amended locations and car group, save the ticket and we will change the details for you. Please note that the price might vary.

Can I book a specific car/vehicle?

Do I lose my deposit if I cancel my car?

In the event of a cancellation notice of which is received by CarTrawler within seven (7) days of the car rental booking date and at least forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine all funds will be reimbursed. In the event of a cancellation notice of which is received by CarTrawler outside seven (7) days of the car rental booking date and at least forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine all funds except a cancellation handling/ administration fee of €25.00 and the non-refundable Administration Charge (Card processing fee) where applicable, will be reimbursed. In the event of a cancellation notice of which is received by CarTrawler less than forty eight (48) hours before the rental of the vehicle is due to commence pursuant to a booking made on this booking engine no funds paid will be reimbursed to you, unless the entire rental amount has also been pre paid CarTrawler will retain 3 days rental and Administration Charge (Card processing fee) where applicable. In the event of a cancellation of a booking when the entire rental amount is payable on arrival, there is no fee for a cancellation.

Do rentals at ski locations include ski racks,snow tyres etc

we do not know who will be supplying the car until you have made your booking. As we are a broker service we simply source the best available price at the time and once you make a reservation we provide the information about a car rental agent and their exact contact details.



How do I reduce the excess on the vehicle?

What is covered by the Theft insurance included in the car rental price?

The theft insurance provided by the car rental company covers theft of the rental vehicle only. It does not cover your personal effects, which would normally be covered by either your travel insurance or your household insurance. There is generally an Excess on the theft portion of the rental. It is this Excess which is covered by our Annual Excess policies.

What is Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) and do I need it?

PAI insures the renter (for the duration of the rental) in the event of their accidental death or bodily injury (coverage is 24 hours a day, in or out of the car). The renter's passengers are also covered while entering, occupying or exiting the vehicle. This cover is sold at the counter.
If you purchased personal travel insurance, you should check with your insurance company to see if this is adequate. Most drivers decline this insurance.


What is super insurance?

You can purchase additional insurances or “Super Insurance” to reduce the excess on the vehicle to zero. This can be done at the rental office on arrival. 1-10171
 


Can I still rent with endorsements on my licence?

If the endorsment / endorsments are for a minor speeding offence or a red light offence there generally is no problem, once you have a credit card

 However, drink driving or Insurance endorsements will not be accepted and the rental will be refused.
